January 2002 Contest #3
The folks at Synch-Point were extra nice to us recently
and we've snared up a batch of FLCL DVD Posters to give away!
We're making this exceptionally easy for this contest. We've got ten
posters to give away so we're going to run two contests. You can only
enter one of them however:
Contest1: If you've seen FLCL before, tell us why you'd
want a poster of Haruko on your wall. Send your email entry with the
reason and your address so if you win, we can ship it off right away, to
flclseen@animeondvd.com.
Contest 2: If you haven't seen FLCL, tell us why you'd want a
poster of Haruko on your wall and why you're looking forward to seeing
FLCL. Send your email entry with the reason and your address so if you
win, we can ship it off right away, to
flclunseen@animeondvd.com.
As a special bonus, one of the ten packages will contain a second
poster for you to give to a friend!
Winners from both contests will be drawn at random at 8PM on
01/31/2002.
The fine print: All entries become the property of
AnimeonDVD.com and may be used in any promotional way. Contestants email
addresses will not be given out to anyone. AnimeonDVD.com reserves the
right to cancel or alter the contest at any time due to circumstances,
however this is highly unlikely so fear not. AnimeonDVD.com reserves the
right to add rules at any time. Contest ends on 01/31/2002. We've
packaged the posters as best as we can and have no backup ones to provide,
so we cannot guarantee how the USPS service will handle them and the
condition that they'll arrive in.

And the winners are:
Contest 1:
Winner 1:
Nick Accristo
I want this poster for one simple reason. She's the
coolest looking, g-slamming, string player this side of all things
anime! Few could rival how cool she can string that instrument!
Between her and Midvalley the Hornfreak (from TRIGUN) you've got the
king and queen of the otaku jam session!
Winner 2:
James Connor
Iv seen FLCL, and i must say, its one messed up
series, but in a good way. Haruko, though crazy most of the time, has
a really cool Matrixy feel to her character (Example-gun fight in
episode 5). And the fact that her guitar is her weapon of choice
scores big in my book alltogether! Haruko's got a little of everything
in her character, from crazy, to serious, to downright evil. Which is
why she has made her way into my fav anime character list! id love to
display my fandom of this crazy series and its crazy character!
Winner 3:
Matt Nunogawa
The voice actress for Haru is just about the best I
have ever heard. Unique and very very skilled
Winner 4:
Jon Sotelo
I need a poster of Haruko on my wall so when I have
having problems with my girl I can look over and realize it could be
worse. I could be dating Haruko! Man imagine that? having to live in
fear of having a Rickenbaker whacked upside your head at any time..
she would move in with or without your permission. not to mention you
know she wouldn't get a job to help pay the bills. I can see the oil
all over the garage, carpet and driveway from her working on that damn
Vespa of hers. Arrghhh the late nights with her playing her bass while
I try to sleep.. good God I would fear to leave her alone in the
house, hell I'm afraid to have her IN the HOUSE!
Come on Chris don't make me beg!!! I need this man! I need the
stability in my live! Damit I need a F L C L poster!.. Do you know how
hard it is to find a F L C L poster? I think once received I will be
in a state of zen... I will also SWARE to frame the poster and
display it behind the TV in my front room. I will even send you a
picture to prove it! Yeah that's right, my front room, I'm old, I'm
not some kid who will tack the poster up next to the Brittney and
N'Synch poster only to rip it down to put up a new Digimon poster. I
will appreciate the item and it will be treasured! I'm
not some horny fanboy that will whack off to the picture either, I
have only the purest intentions! I really do! Man you know if you give
one away to just anyone soon it will be all sticky and crusty.. come
on that isn't even right.
If any of those other reason don't convince you how about this. Jan 22
is my birthday. Yup I am going to be 28 years old! I have been
watching anime since Starblazers, Gatchaman and Speed Racer. Damit I
am only 2 years away from being 30!! Man I don't even know if they
allow people that old to snowboard or buy anime anymore... This is
getting depressing. I think that for my birthday a F L C L poster
would invigorate me! I would be able to continue my adolescent ways
well into my 30's!!! If only I could have a F L C L poster of my own
as a birthday present from Anime Chris. The man whose site I have been
visiting since it was hosted on his personal Netcom homepage. I
remember when you had a mailing list and all those freaks said you
were spamming them and contacted Netcom... I am SO glad you didn't
quit after that like I thought you would. You rose above the occasion
just as I can overcome my birthday once I poses the poster!
Even if I don't win the poster I still want to thank you for all the
time and effort you put into your site. It's the only site online I
visit EVERY day. Hopefully I will get to meet you in person some day
and thank you in person but you live to damn far away!
Winner 5:
Ryan Wong
I want a poster of Haruko because she is a hot alien
babe who drives a vespa, and really *knows* how to use her guitar.
Contest 2:
Winner 1:
Chris Valdez
Gainax. 'Nuff said.
Winner 2:
Amy Kelm
Most importantly it would look great next to the
action figure I ordered of her. Also I like "weird" challenging anime
so I am looking forward to viewing GAINAX's release.
Winner 3:
Jennifer Rapalo
I'd like a poster of Haruko on my wall because she
drives a Vespa and battles using a guitar. She's the perfect role
model!
And... I'm looking forward to FLCL because its from Gainax. I love
everything Gainax has done; Gunbuster, Nadia, Neon Genesis Evangelion,
Otaku No Video and the list goes on. Their independent flare is
appealing.
Winner 4:
Andrew Longshore
I haven't seen FLCL but I have heard alot of great
things about it. My friend downloaded the series and wanted me to see
it but, I decided to wait till the DVD version comes out. I can't wait
for this series! Please pick me.
Winner 5:
Lindsay Petterson
I have not seen FLCL before, but I will tell you why I
must have this poster...
I first heard a blurb about FLCL in Animerica magazine. Looked
interesting. It didn't look like something I would be crazy about.
They did a review on it a couple months later, I still wasn't very
interested.
But one day, I was on an anime music video site, browsing through all
the clips of videos set to music that seemed to capture the essence of
the series or some such. I downloaded a FLCL music video. I was
amazed. As I watched it, it felt like electricity was flooding my
veins, making my heart feel like it was going to be torn into pieces.
Then I saw her.
Her.
Haruko Haruhara.
She looked amazing. Wild eyes offset by a defiant and confidant smile;
racing in her vespa at light speed, free..........and hitting a boy
with a guitar.
I watched the video several times over. Haruko had captured me. She
was everything I wanted to be but wasn't. She was just so COOL!
I downloaded some songs by the Pillows (a band that does some songs
for FLCL) and was doubly blown away. I felt so alive when I heard
them. I could see Haruko riding in her vespa. It made me happy.
I downloaded a wallpaper for my computer last month. It was the same
image of Haruko that you sport on that poster, only it was blue. I saw
that image all month on my desktop. Haruko, with her cocky sneer, her
compatriots the Rickenbauker Bass and the bright yellow vespa
surrounding her. She screamed cool. That whole month I thought about
seeing FLCL in January. To truly see Haruko in action, alive and
kickin'.
I no longer have Haruko on my desktop. But I wouldn't mind having her
in my room. I might even have a little shrine, a little space in the
wall, just for her; to accompany my idol worship. Please make my dream
come true, Anime on DVD. Haruko can keep me company until Synch Point
finally releases volume one.
