NEWS: 05/31/98
Even though Laserviews says Ranma will be out Tuesday, most places are
saying it's delayed until the 10th... as well as Iria and Big Wars! Argh!
:) Personally, it's for the best. Since I'm getting married next Saturday,
I wouldn't have time to really check anything out this week. But at least
we know they're coming!
As you may have noticed, there's a few more cosmetic/loading changes over
the weekend, trying to tweak this out to the way I want to keep it. I
think I may have hit it this time, so lets all hope so!
NEWS: 05/27/98
It's starting to seem like every day we're getting more information coming
down... check out the "Upcoming" list to see what's new from CPM (with
pics and info!) as well as updates to Iria, Big Wars and Voltage Fighter.
CPM seems to be pushing their DVD's now. Check out their
website to see how much of
what's new is actually DVD!
And the petitions are going rather well! We're just a few short of 100 for
Evangelion, which I knew was going to be the fastest one, but the others
are doing very well! Keep up the interest! I'm hoping to hear back from
the other companies (again, kudos to Animeigo for their quick and very
favorable response) regarding their DVDs. AD Vision? You're the only one
out there now...
And as for the CPM pricing of 29.95... I'm not sure how accurate that's
going to be. With the recent Image reductions of at least 5 bucks, I know
that Iria is 34.95, yet CPM lists it as 39.95. If this means that we can
take another 5 off of most titles... after the usual discounts, we're
talking TWENTY bucks for these babies! I love my DVD!
NEWS: 05/26/98
Well, as you can see, we've move fairly successfully to the new site.
Geocities offers me pretty much what I was looking for, a nice size
directory (20 meg to start), and some other cool things that I'll
implement once the impending wedding madness is over for me!
Follow this link to read
all about the FABULOUS news I received from the lovely Suzanne at
Animeigo today. I sent them, as well
as several other companies, emails yesterday explaining the petitions that
are now running here (emphasizing the fan driven nature of them), as well
as offering the potentiality of doing contests and giveaways via this site
in the future. Hopefully we'll hear more on that later. The main initial
news I received from them was that they are NOT going to be using Simitar...
but if you've read their press release, you already know that!
With the news from Animeigo, I'm going to be starting a small "LD
Sale" page where anyone who has any anime laserdiscs (import or
domestic) and wants to sell them can do so. Just send me the information
(i.e. titles, conditions, prices and email address as well as any graphics
you might want to show for them) and I'll put them up ASAP.
NEWS: 05/22/98
Lodoss finally has a date, at least according to DVD Express...
Ranma's been bumped a week, and Wings of Honeamise has been
officially announced from Manga. Looks
like June 3rd will be a good anime day!
NEWS: 05/21/98
The Ninja Scroll review
is up! I've also gotten great responses so far for the petitions...
strangely enough, Netcom won't seem to let me post about them in the dvd
and anime forums. Anyone up for making a mention of it? Nearly 50 people
for Evangelion in just under 2 days of non-advertising is pretty darn good
I think!
NEWS: 05/19/98
Pioneer finally officially announced the
Darkstalkers DVD,
or at least the first of two. Not much listed on Laserviews beyond Closed
Captioning, but we're assuming a sub/dub format until we hear otherwise.
You may also have noticed the new
petition sections to
the left. I'll be re-arranging the left frame this coming weekend to make
it a touch more orderly, but I wanted to have those in the forefront
initially... getting some good responses so far!
NEWS: 05/17/98
Well, another week, and some news filters through to us.
Slayers has
been officially cancelled by Image. Apparently they had announced this
title before they had the proper rights for it. The contract stipulated
only Laserdisc and VHS sales. Hopefully though, this show will see the
light of day sometime this year.
On a more positive note,
Image made their newest announcements, ones that I do hope they'll
carry through on. The Art of
Fighting and Record Of
Lodoss War is in the pipeline for an August release date if all goes
well. Oh, and the Links
page is actually functional now...
On a more technical note, does anyone have any suggestions for a good site
that has a decent amount of storage space? I'm looking for somewhere where
I can do proper links to more detailed anime sites as well as being able
to put a few more images here, but Netcom doesn't have much in the way of
space for non-business users.
NEWS: 05/11/98
I've added in a few new reviews (sheepish grin). I promise from now on
that upon receiving new anime DVD's, they'll be the first thing I watch.
Of course, if any of the producing companies want to send me copies early
on, then I can get them online sooner! :) Anyways. Just a few design
changes recently. Taking a few user suggestions, I've also added in the
"return to main page", as well as cleaning up the older news to their own
archive areas. Granted, there isn't a lot of news on a monthly basis, but
this page should still load fairly quickly for most people.
And going by our most recent poll, it looks as if A.D.Vision and Manga
have the two hottest libraries, at least to DVD fans. Myself, I'm more
anxious to see stuff from Viz, like their TV series!
NEWS: 05/08/98
And from some very reliable sources, come some future announcements from
Central Park Media/US Manga! August will see Harmageddon and
Gall Force: Eternal Story. September will see the release of Area
88 1 as well as Urusei Yatsura's Beautiful Dreamer. And
October? Grave of the Fireflies, Silent Service and
Ayane's High Kick!
DEFINITE kudos to CPM/USM for this commitment to anime on dvd, which is
surprisingly MORE than Pioneer seems at the moment. Pioneer? If you can do
a "Ran" with the Tenchi and all your other original laserdisc releases,
you'll surely move up that ladder again!
NEWS: 05/05/98 Looks like two small delays from Image/CPM
with the Slayers and Iria discs. Both have been moved to 06/03/98
(according to DVD Express' listings). I think I'll manage to get along a
little while with that. I'm mostly looking forward to these two releases
because they're shows I haven't seen before, either on VHS or LD. New
stuff!
And according to this weeks Quizlet, Ranma 1/2 TV was the most anticipated
show until, once again, someone skewed the results in favor of MY favorite
show, Record of Lodoss War. Hopefully if the Ranma move does well at the
end of this month, Pioneer and Viz will talk about getting that and Maison
Ikkoku out there for us! |
