Anime on DVD is represented by Gorilla Nation. Please contact Gorilla Nation for ad rates, packages and general advertising information.
Please note: We are a region 1 DVD resource primarily as well as a region A North American Blu-ray resource. We cover releases from other regions and Japanese Region A anime releases but our primary focus across all formats is North America.
Our reviews are broken down in a couple of ways depending on what you're looking for. All of our video reviews, be it DVD, HD DVD or Blu-ray, are in our Video Review section by series. Within each series you will find reviews for all regions that we have done.
Anime CD/DVD-Audio Reviews
Please note that this section (as of this writing) is for domestic/North American CD/DVD-Audio releases and not for Japanese releases.
Please be aware that some
reviews may contain spoilers within them. If you haven't seen a title
yet, you may want to restrict yourself to reading just the technical
portion of the review. Alternate Angle (some times marked simply by a
number if there are a lot of them) reviews are not proofed for spoilers,
reader beware. The list below contains every released. For a
complete list of titles that are officially announced as coming out,
check out the
upcoming list.
Often times I get asked if
the studios supply me with review copies. Some do, some don't. During
the first year we were up and running, we didn't get any review copies
and didn't really ask either. Since then, studios have been sending us
titles in advance of the release date. This does not influence our
reviews at all. We get questioned on that a lot. We here at Anime on DVD
put our money where our mouths are. Even if we get review copies, we
still buy the discs as they come out every week, just like everyone else.
This of course has gotten a raised eyebrow and some surprised responses
from both fans and the studios. Of course, this works out well for the
readers here as the copy I buy goes into our contest pile. In the end, I
support the studios with my dollars just like everyone else.
The main reviews written
by myself are graded on an A - F scale. Alternate angle reviewers tend
to use a variety of ratings or no ratings at all. For my reviews, the
grades work in this way, and I admit it's not entirely precision
grading. Depending on the section being reviewed, A = Great, B
= Average, C = Below Average, D = Probably Sit On The
Shelf For Months Without Being Watched Again, F = Why Didn't I
Learn When I Bought The VHS
We also get asked a lot to
provide more information within the index listings of the various
titles. Please don't ask. We're pretty much set on the way things are.
