Kitty Pleasure Pack Vol. #2 (of 2)

By: Chris Beveridge
Review Date: Monday, September 29, 2003
Release Date: Tuesday, August 06, 2002

What They Say
In Countdown to Delight, Motoki is a dedicated College student, dutifully studying for finals. That's easier said than done, with his sister enthusiastically making love with another woman in the room next door, and a sexy tutor dying to try her whip out on him. Likewise, in Crime of Passion, Kanzaki You finds himself literally caught between a sexy older woman and his childhood love, Yuka.

The Review!
Kitty Pleasure Pack brings us two more stories of hentai, this time ranging from the real world troubles of a young woman in love to the problems of a boy who cant stop getting any.

Audio:
For our primary viewing session, we listened to this disc in its dubbed language of English. These shows are fairly recent and sport your basic stereo mix with hardly any real directionality. Most of the dialogue is through the center channel while the music and certain ambient effects make use of the stereo channels.

Video:
The transfer for the program is pretty decent, with colors looking good and backgrounds mostly maintaining their solid look. Both episodes feature a fair amount of cross coloration, with the second episode being the worse of the two. Aliasing is also visible through both episodes, though most of it tends to show during the slow pans.

Packaging:
With a similar layout to the first release, we get the split artwork on the cover so we get nice look at both shows against the nice looking blue background. The artwork for the Stairs show is more mature looking to be sure, while Countdown to Delight emphasizes its comical look and feel. The back cover provides a few animation shots and a quick summary of each episode. Technical and production information is also clearly listed. The insert provides another look at the animation as well as the chapter stops.

Menu:
The menus are nicely done here, though quiet with no music. The main menu has your basic selections along with the Kitty mascot. Selecting play brings you to a menu where you can select the episode you want, which shows the cover art alongside it. The menus are pretty well laid out and access times are nice and fast.

Extras:
None.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Kitty Pleasure Pack #2 provides us with two more stories, one thats done somewhat maturely while the other one is a comedic piece. The balance actually works, provided you avoid these episodes in English.

Stairs is a simple show that follows a couple of girls and boys who are unsure of who they should be going after and their feelings. The girls are a bit more forthright than usual, but since they want to get close and not lose the boy, they sometimes to go lengths that shouldnt be gone to. These moments actually give the show something of a skeleton of a story, especially when theres confusion about who should really be with who. But whatever you do, dont watch the dubbed version of this. During the explicit sequences, the voice actresses sound like theyre reading the alphabet and got stuck on the letter O. Its not even at the bad level that you can laugh at it.

Countdown to Delight doesnt have any of the drama thats in Stairs, instead focusing on the distraught life of Motoki. This blond haired lad just hates his life, as his sister and lesbian lover are louder than life, causing him to not get his homework done or any of his studying. To make things worse, his sisters lover enjoys teasing him when her girl is asleep. She takes things a step further and actually seduces Motoki this time around, which plays out badly when his gay friend comes over with his sister. Motoki likes his friend, but his friend really likes him. His sister just came over for a threesome, but jokes that it looks like a fivesome when everyone is together.

The designs for this show are done more comically, with the super large eyes, the wild hair and the vibrant colors. Its not meant to be taken seriously, but some of the designs for the women are just poor looking at times. The continuity people needed more money.

These two episodes arent bad, and are definitely better than what weve see in some of the Best of Kitty episodes. We just made the mistake of intending to change the languages and subtitles on the fly and not being able to, and ended up watching it dubbed the first time around.
