Forum Buzz

It's time once again for the column that single-handedly kills any
chances of a poor Forum Moderator having any real sleep! It's been a much
more exciting week in the animeondvd.com forums. We've got DVD
announcements, we've got title acquisition announcements, we've got some
forum news, and I have far more dry humor planned for this edition. With
that said, let's first make with the recycled news.
Recycled News
It has a pretty opening!
CPM announced this week that they have acquired Himiko Den, a short TV
series related to the Playstation game of the same name. Fantasy/Adventure
genre. DVD release possible in late 2002.
Spriggan Theatrical release...
... Information, posted to the wrong forum! It's ok, it's good news.
I'll forgive, just this once. :). If anything, a lot of people were a bit
disappointed that it wasn't going to be at their local theater first.
Create your own extra
Though it was posted on the main page too, it's worth mentioning again
that ADV is looking for more questions to ask the English voice actors for
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water #10. You can add your questions
here
Elves, Tanks, Nudity!
Those Who Hunt Elves Vol 1, November 13th. It is not redubbed, like a
recent press release appeared to indicate.
Forum Action
Important Forum News
The Evangelion Forum is set to close down for good on Sunday, September
23rd. The forum will be removed at that point. If there's anything you'd
like to archive there yourself, grab it now.
Cardcaptor Sakura Info
Some new info regarding the Cardcaptor Sakura DVDs was revealed in the
forums this week. The "Li" version of the first intro - Pioneer is trying
to get a hold of it. Licensor can't find it. If it's not found in time to
fit into the proper season of episodes, it'll be an extra on one of the
later discs. Pioneer does have all the other openings and endings for the
rest of the series. Eyecatches - Look for them on Vol 6.
CPM loads up the fanservice
Some notes regarding fanservice-fest Labyrinth of Flame. 2 episode OAV.
From the same folks who brought you the extremely well-done AIKa. :)
CPM will be releasing this as an extras-loaded DVD in Feburary 2002.
Taking a quote from Justin Sevakis: "Labyrinth of Flame is a lot of
fun. It's about this really dim-witted guy who thinks he's a samurai in
modern day Japan. Lots of fun, lots of panties (not necessarily in that
order), and lots of fun DVD extras. Really great dub with Jessica Calvello
too. Look forward to it!"
I know I can't wait, bring on the fanservice!
Matsumoto-verse expands in early 2002
While still on the subject of CPM, look for Maetel Legend in March
2002, or thereabouts
Anime Weekend Atlanta bits
AWA - may contain AnimeTrax title announcements.
If you need to exchange your Kenshin Movie or Sorcerer Hunters 1 cover,
bring your "faulty" cover with you to AWA, and you can exchange it there.
Forum Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down
Thumbs Up - Magic User's Club #3 is actually out now
Thumbs Down - Macrovision encoded DVDs
Thumbs Up - Use of alternate angles in Original Dirty Pair
Thumbs Down - Orderbox.com
Thumbs Up - 12/4 for Video Girl Ai disc. All 6 episode, one disc
Thumbs Down - "Superbit" DVDs
Quote of the week: bloody spoiled austinites... -Lhadatt
Really has been an exciting week for announcements. I'm really excited
at what the next six months are looking like already, and we have 2
conventions coming up this weekend as well! Next week should have some
equally interesting announcements, look forward to it!
Signing off,
-Sean "I'm so glad I didn't have to lock another CB box thread"
