Forum Buzz
By Sean Broestl

10/11/2001 Edition

Outside the temperature is dropping, forcing Otaku inside and onto their computers, posting stuff to the animeondvd.com forums in a record week for posts. It's kept me busy reading all the topics and replies, but a lot of good information has been uncovered, revealed, announced, etc. And just for the record Chris, There's no way I'd ever do a chat buzz! You'd kill me!

Buzzworthy

The Trilogy that never was

ADV announced the acquisition of Mospeada and Southern Cross. Animeigo mailing list most likely has a group heart attack. Despite the fact that dlw said he doesn't have any other info to give out right now, lots of questions were asked anyway.

Amazingly enough, despite being one of the more active threads this week, it's not being posted to anymore

Synch-Point-chan-san-kun

Some Tenshi Ni Narumon DVD details have been announced. The DVD target date is in December for this 5 episode disc. Details have also been announced regarding a more "fan-friendly" subtitle track. (i.e. name suffixes -chan, -san, etc.)

As far as fears of dubtitles for FLCL go, there's nothing to worry about. The translation was done in-house. It will be an accurate sub script. original thread

More FLCL details - Covers will read FLCL, subtitled "Fooly Cooly" original post Reversible Covers too - original post

Surrender that mini-bot!

Big Discussion this week on Hand Maid May, especially since the second disc is out. Some definite changes of opinions abound, as people a few people who liked the first disc didn't like the content of the second as much. Some people (myself included) liked it more now that the second disc is out.

Confusion hits Tokyo-3

Wanna know how to make Otaku mad? You delay and change the release schedule of anything involving Evangelion. One of the fastest growing threads of Tuesday involved Manga Entertainment and their oft-changed Evangelion Movie release schedule.

Good DVD Release model Again

Charles McCarter dropped in to announce the Saber Marionette J Again DVD. Lots of support for this 2 disc set (34.98 MSRP), consisting of 2 DVD9s, the original openings and endings for each episode, and other extras. Mastered by POP/Cinram. Very fan-friendly release.

It's not nice to stereotype...

For those of you reading the forum more frequently, Father_V is compiling a list of all the studio reps in forum feedback. Now all we need to do is raid their homes and deliver them to a dvd-producing camp :)

Can't we think of some original arguments?

AoD's monthly rehash threads reared their heads this week. ADV in the UK, and R1 DVDs suck. Isn't repetition wonderful?
