10/18/2001 Edition

Doesn't seem to be a big week for news, but reports are flooding in about all these new releases. A lot of good discs are hitting the shelves lately, and there's a lot of positive comments on the forum to accompany those good discs. So to summarize...

SE, LE, CE, AIEEEEEE!

Out of some controversy regarding a possible cut in the Utena movie (ended up not being true), Justin Sevakis announced that there are more titles planned to be in their LE line, when they can get enough extras to add to a disc to make it worthy of the title. May be a couple re-releases under this label.

On the heels of some excellent dubs on recent discs, we've opened up a new forum entitled, "The English Track". It's there to help identify good and bad dubs, etc. Join in the discussion, just behave, ne? :) The English Track Forum

Pioneer breaks vow of silence

Lots of updates on Pioneer's site today, and lots of new threads discussing of titles, including the Pretty Sammy OAV/Mihoshi Special DVD, Armitage, and Magical Project S. I'm incredibly excited about the announcements myself, Magical Project S is some quality anime. :)

Not to be outdone by Pioneer...

Viz's Dallas Middaugh dropped in to a few threads to hand out some vague information about a few of their titles. The first is a small glimmer of hope for the oft-taunted Maison Ikkoku fans. They may be getting their fix in one or two sub-only box sets (no firm details yet, don't go nuts). Ranma DVDs have gone from monthly to bi-monthly are a result of the production schedule being too hectic. Ceres will be staying monthly. Inu-Yasha - production on the DVDs has not yet begun, it is still being shopped around to TV. DVD production will start in 2002 regardless of a TV deal however.

Also, not to be outdone...

Bandai released a new release schedule today, which lists several new release dates. Several threads were spawned about the Special Edition of Jin-Roh, several threads about Love Hina. To my surprise, there weren't any threads about Betterman today. I might have to start one myself, just so I can find out more about this show!

Funimation wants YOU!

Kyle Hebert, VA for Funimation has spawned a couple threads looking for feedback several items. The first is feedback on Funimation's DVD release of Blue Gender. So if you happen to have gotten it already, drop your thoughts in this thread. The other thread is asking for what Lupin III movies you'd like to see first. Can't say exactly which movies they have, but you can leave your thoughts in this thread.

Quote of the week: Its as if Oji was shooting fireballs out of his butt but it doesn't matter why because the show is about Oji. -Kyle81
