Insanely active week on the forums. Helps when you have exciting
announcements like KOR pre-order details, and annoying revelations like no
Japanese track on the Region 1 Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust movie. Perhaps
next week you'll all go out and ring doorbells for candy, and give me a
little break :)
Blue, FUNimation, and cryogenic waste removal, Oh My!
Klye Hebert took it upon himself to gather feedback on the new Blue
Gender DVD release late last week. The thread has generated over 70 posts
of mostly positive comments about the disc's technical aspects. The
negative comments have mostly been about the slow release schedule, and
the menu transitions being slow. In a rather interesting split off the
main conversation, a side discussion began about waste removal for the
"sleepers" in Blue Gender. Both hilarious, educational, and disgusting at
the same time!
AnimEigo enslaves wallet of Otaku
In response to today's opening of the KOR pre-order page, several
threads popped up on the forum regarding it. They are confirmed to be
sub-only. And folks, it'll be a very good deal. It's the same price as an
8 disc release, for nearly double the episodes! I know others might be
passing on this one, but I can't wait.
Princess 9 Impressions
Finally, Princess 9 has started to land in people's hands. The majority
of people seem to be enjoying the 5 episodes so far, and hope it'll stay
the same quality all the way through. Music sounds cool too :)
Now and Then, Here and There makes a splash in the forums
Following the posting of the cover art for Now and Then, Here and There
in the forums, a fairly good sized discussion about the content was
started. It's a mecha show with a depressing theme, and seems to be
somewhat of a departure from the common anime show. It sounds like it'll
be interesting when it gets out. The cover art is actually an improvement
over the R2, if that's believable
A flamewar for the ages
I'm not really going to into too many details here, but I suppose I
have to mention that one of the biggest flamewars since Evangelion took
place on the forums this week. It's all about Urban Vision not putting a
Japanese language track on the Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust DVD. Of course,
every traditional sub/dub/original language/director's intent arguement
was used here. That's about all I care to say here.
*jiggle*
dlw announced the release date for the Plastic Little DVD (2/5/2002),
and its fantastical extra, the Jiggle Counter! Sounds cool, and it
probably will generate a few extra sales. The best part of that extra will
probably just be how much it can simplify drinking games.
I Wanna Do More! DVDs...
Magic User's Club vol 4 is slated for the end of November, dub was
delayed by NY events last month.
Avatar, shattering dreams and breaking vows of silence
After a request to CPM to license the new Slayers movie/OAV thing being
made in Japan, Avatar quickly jumped into to comment, "Didn't we announce
this at AX?" (note the question mark). Sapphire added this to her rumored
list now, even though I think we really did hear this announcement at AX.

Quote of the week: My sperm....stays in the family. -Njr
I don't think I can properly follow up a quote like that, so for this
week I'm signing off.
