Forum Buzz: Resurrection?

Ok, it's time to try my hand at a regular column once again. Through a mixture of Chris' subtle prodding and a subconscious desire to ensure that I have the site's largest number of published columns next to Ladycat, I'm going to pick this up again. Amazingly enough, the forum has had a lot more meaningful content lately, despite the larger number of new users on the forum. It's been an interesting read for me, and for most of the regular readers.

Public Service Announcement

If you haven't been keeping up with some more recent forum developments (shame on you!), you need to be aware of some format changes to the General and Off-Topic forums. The forum formerly known as "General Anime on DVD" has been renamed "Region 1 DVD News & Views", and the Off-Topic forum has become the "Off-Topic / General Anime Discussion". The former is moving to a discussion specific to released discs, and it can be content, production, DVD quality, etc. The Off-Topic General forum is what it sounds like. General anime discussions can be placed here, but we're still not allowing discussion of bootlegs and fansubs. Thank You.

But would it sell with dlw's face on the cover?

One of the better threads this past week has covered just where ADV's influence lies, and probably of more interest, where they lie in terms of rank in the animation industry. For those of you new to the anime scene, this is a good review. How big is ADV and what is the extent of its influence?"

True Blue

An innocent enough question regarding the Love Hina covers (which boggled even me) turned up some new info. The Love Hina discs are in clear-blue amarays, so you can see the other side of the cover. If you remember from Chris' review, only half the backside of the cover actually has an image on it. [ Original Thread ]

Jungle de Ikou, you say!?!

Freshly licensed Brigadoon already has a pretty good information thread about it going. It sounds like a somewhat intriguing title to me, so I'm going to plug the thread. Of course, the irony of someone buying the Region 2 DVDs and having a license announced briefly after has reared its head once again. :) Brigadoon Info

Forum Fun Corner

At the risk of actually PROMOTING wacky polls, I'm going to give special recognition to one each new column. This week, the award goes to... "Do you ever smell your DVDs (in the case, or out of the case, it doesn't matter)?! Erm, well done. :P

Quote of the week: How about "Disney's Legend of the Overfiend"? Think of the musical numbers!

And I think that's gonna do it for me this week... but keep the interesting threads going, and I'll keep the column going. Until next week.
