From the desk of da Original S Man: Hot damn,
we're back for a second week. Welcome to Forum Buzz, folks. By order of
Darth Sodapop, we are to be expanding our issue and covering even more
topics.
asagiri2040: So that's what was in the email Chris sent you! =)
Umm, sort of. Essentially, we get to run yet another issue.
asagiri2040: "Sort of"? Just what exactly did he say? Repost it for us.
Well, if I reposted all of it then I'd have to remove the large blocks of
swear words it contained. Such a potty mouth Chris can be. Yeesh..
asagiri2040: How many words would be left?
Six, counting the 'Hello'.
But I gathered the gist was to expand, solidify, and continue to promote
with our own brand of justice. Welcome back to Forum Buzz and make sure to
read everything including the fine print. Ya never know what you may find in
one of our issues.
From the desk of asagiri2040: Greetings and
thank you for stopping by yet another issue of Forum Buzz run by myself
and...
S-Man: I hear if we make it to issue three we get our own custom Divi-chan
logo to use. =)
We do? Great! We'll be the first to welcome her back after a brief
absence.
S-Man: And did you know that our first issue was the 21st
Forum Buzz to be published?
Really? Wow... wait a minute. Why are you
suddenly so helpful & knowledgable. What are you up to?
S-Man: *whistles innocently*
Uh huh, you haven't been innocent since the day you were born. We better
start this edition now before you do something.
Important NewsWar Report Update: Nested Hits the Forums
As Chris, Sean, and all the other "in the know" people have been saying: View
All Thread is being worked on. Well, View-All has been installed under the
codename of "Nested" and is undergoing tweaks to make everyone happy. Who says
the admins don't work hard to make everyone happy? Reminder to all who wish to
join the forums, be sure to check out:
Licensing Ahoy! As was recently learned,
Rondo Robe is the committee name by which fans can now identify shows that have
been co-produced by Pioneer LDC, Pioneer Entertainment’s parent company. And,
thanks to a bit of detective work by forum user/lurker “iserlohn”, Rondo Robe’s
site has been uncovered, revealing a list of shows to potentially be licensed by
Pioneer Entertainment or possibly other companies as well, if some past licenses
are any indication.
A Moment of Weakness…? Well, despite the majority
opinion regarding Manga Entertainment’s releases, it seems that more than a few
people have opted to pick up their impending release of Read Or Die. Good
word-of-mouth from reliable sources was enough to push some people over the
edge, while others still aren’t getting the disc due to a complete lack of
interest in the show, plus all the various opinions in-between.
.soundtrack//CLARIFICATION Jerry Chu was kind enough
to post a clarification regarding just which soundtrack is to be included with
the upcoming limited edition third volume of .hack//SIGN. We should be expecting
the soundtrack for the .hack//Liminality OAV as well as an accompanying mini CD.
Speculation still runs rampant as to just what will come with volume 5, as well
as trying to keep straight just how many .hack soundtracks there are, for what,
and of what.
…ten little, eleven little, Twelve little Kingdoms…
A small inquiry by forum user “blee” about Media Blasters’ upcoming release of
the series Twelve Kingdoms resulted in a very informative set of responses,
covering such things as story arc details, comparisons to other shows,
episode/disc counts, and the status of the continuing episodes in Japan. Need
some info? Want to know if the show is right for you? Then come join the
discussion!
You Mean Something Besides Subtitles? As difficult
as it may be to believe that our motley crew of forum users does anything
besides watch anime, apparently there are many readers among us, with varied
tastes ranging from Stephen King to Alfred Korzybski. Of course, there’s our
fair share of manga readers out there as well. According to the current poll
results, roughly half of our forum group claims to be “always readin’ some
book.” But we all know that poll statistics can’t be trusted, and this one is
obviously false; if half the forum group is always reading a book, then just
when do they watch DVDs and, more importantly, post on the forums?
Dub Cast News Round-up! For those who enjoy
listening to anime in English as well, we have a round up of cast & studio news
for several upcoming titles.
It seemed many have really
enjoyed the work that The Ocean Group's Vancouver talent pool has done for
Pioneer's The SoulTaker, Bandai's Arjuna, and Viz's InuYasha. You will be happy
to know that they are also working on Master Keaton (Pioneer), Hana Yori Dango (Viz)
which will be released as Boys Over Flowers, Junkers Come Here (Bandai), and
Mega Man: NT Warrior (KidsWB). Headline Studios is keeping busy with the
upcoming releases of K.O. Beast & Comic Party from RightStuf. And as one more
small bit of information, New Generation Pictures will be the dub studio for
Pioneer's Licensed by Royalty (L/R) series and Bandai's Spirit of Wonder. Janice
Williams of ADV Films is currently holding a cast guessing game for the upcoming
Monster Island dub of Steam Detectives.
You mean you can buy anime online at a
discount!? If you have never bothered to check out the Retail Forum then you
have been missing a monthly ritual of the forum users: the monthly Deals &
Coupons thread. We're all anime fans and finding a good deal means that we can
buy even more anime for less money. That deserves a w00t!
Animatrix - The Second Renaissance Part II The final
piece of the Animatrix which will be on the web before the full DVD release has
come and gone. And with The Matrix: Reloaded coming out this week & the first
movie showing on Fox last Friday, it's timed you boned up on the backstory to
what happened between now and the time of Neo & Co. By far, the Second
Renaissance is the most graphic of the series released and users should keep
this in mind before viewing. There is no kiddy ride to this rollercoaster.
Sakura Taisen - École de Paris volume 1 Sakura
Taisen fans cheer & jeer over the first R2 release of the third OVA for Sakura
Taisen (that's Sakura Wars in the US). Following the video game's storyline, we
have left the setting of Japan to establish a brand new team in Paris. In the
first episode we get to meet cute & clumsy Erica, the dignified Glycine, and
some inside jokes for all the players of the third Sakura Taisen game. Whether
you play the games or not, you'll want to check out this title (already licensed
by FUNimation) which is creating quite a buzz of its own.
Week two has finished out. We'll continue to look into
expanding the weekly Buzz and digging up material which seems to hit the
forums but not the front page of AoD. We asked Chris for a raise in our
Forum Buzz budget and he said we would give us triple what we get right now.
Of course, we recieved $0 before so that means we now get $0 times three!
When not stopping trouble (or starting it) on the AoD Forums,
S-Man can be found working on the database project at
Crystal
Acids and asagiri2040 can be found not updating his
Rising Sun Alternative website. Divi-chan is coming back! One side of the
Buzz is suggesting Divi-chan as a
race queen. The other side of the Buzz is suggesting a more Spring
fashion of relaxing in shorts & a t-shirt. We're sure you know which side is
suggesting which design.
