10/29/03 Edition

From the desk of da Original S Man:
Do not adjust your monitor. We control the vertical and horizontal. We also control brightness, so don't make us fade to black when you click over to look at some etchi website. Yes, we are now in contr..

asagiri2040: What the hell are you doing?

Dude, go away. You're breaking the scary mood.

asagiri2040: "Scary mood"?

Duh! Halloween! The time when ghosts, goblins, and witches come out. It's frightfest time.

asagiri2040: Riiight.. Well, you go have fun then.

What, you don't want to scare the folks at home?

From the desk of asagiri2040:
No, I'm not as goofy as you.

S Man: Bah! Come on.. it's fun.

Like how scary? Credit card bill after shopping scary?

S Man: More. =P

Fat guy dressed as Sailor Moon scary?

S Man: Creepy, but still need something really horrible to mention.

Man-Faye?

S Man: ARGH! *shudder* Yeah, that would be one.

Cool. So are we done now?

    New January Anime Releases
It’s time again for that upcoming releases sneak peek called the Diamond Comics VideoVault update. For the month of January, we’ve got the first volume of both The Big O II and Captain Herlock, the last volume of Rune Soldier, and a whole heck of a lot of other items as well. While sparse for some fans, this is definitely a break-the-bank month for quite a few others.

  • Gunparade March Tin Box Completed Pic
A picture of the completed collector’s tin for Media Blasters’ January release of Gunparade March has become available for your drooling… er, viewing pleasure. The tin is sized to fit the three discs for this 12-episode series. It seems that quite a few people have no idea what the show is about, but are still going to be picking up the tin anyway based on its sheer coolness. Other companies: take note.

  • Noir Paul Champagne Box Pic
Images of ADV’s metal case for Noir, designed by Paul Champagne, are up and ready for viewing thanks to user “youth.” Opinions are quite mixed at this point regarding the design, but a good number of fans are questioning the need for a metal case for a series which already has a sturdy box, while other shows with flimsy boxes (such as fan-favorite RahXephon) are as of yet going without. However, there are more cases in the works, so your wait might possibly be rewarded!

  • Review feedback is good!
If by “good” you mean “funny,” then yes. Well, at least in this instance. At any rate, we know that webmaster “Chris Beveridge’s” new “Learn Mind Control in Six Easy Steps” book was well worth the cover price. Then the discussion veers off into debating the merits of Chris’ grading scale and the different ways the reviews are read and interpreted.

  • Evangelion Director’s Cut Volume 7 – In DECEMBER?
Maybe not in December, but sooner than later. Then the thread derails into comments about various sorts of potential editing and more queries as to just what the Director’s Cut includes (which, by the way, is some additional footage throughout episodes 21-24, and some very minor tweaking done to episodes 25-26).

  • AoD Forum Thread
  • Meanwhile, it should be noted that some actual facts have been appearing in the English Track since over a month ago. Most notably, the dubbing work for the additional scenes had begun in late September (which is generally a good indicator that a certain show or disc is due to be released soon). Two parts have been recast; specifically, Monica Rial has been cast as Maya Ibuki and Greg Ayres has been cast as Kaworu Nagisa. It was also first noted here that Guil Lunde would be reprising his role as Fuyutsuki.

  • ADV UK's Upcoming Titles
"GrantM" noticed several new ADV UK titles on the BBFC website. The "goodies" are Sorcerer Hunters, Blue Seed 2, the four new Slayers movies, Angelic Layer, Sakura Wars TV, and Dirty Pair: Project EDEN & Flight 005 Conspiracy. It seems a tad odd that the Blue Seed OVA sequel will release before the UK even sees the TV series, but you never know what may be just around the corner.

Inspired by Noir, "martialstax" is kicking around a list of what all the girls of anime use. Now, when we say "use", we are refering to guns which are real weapons. So, do you hot n bothered over Fujiko packing a Browning M1910? Does Faye's Glock 30 meaning anything special? Or do you go for that classic like a Cz75 which Rally Vincent carries?

  • It's "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" on PS2 & X-Box games at Toys R Us. Better hurry before they're all gone. Cartoon Network will be airing the final Big O episode on Sunday. Of course, if they mess up again one can only hope to see Big O arise from the ground straight though the TEG complex in downtown Atlanta. Anyone else find themselves watching The Matrix: Reloaded constantly since it came on DVD?
